Stephane Roncada and David Vuillemin Lead a Pack at Bank One Ballpark
In this week’s Throwback Thursday, we dial back the clock 24 years to 2002, and the Phoenix Supercross held at Bank One Ballpark (now called Chase Field). This shot captures a Heat race with Frenchmen Stephane Roncada on his Kawasaki ahead of countryman David Vuillemin on a factory Yamaha. Costa Rican Ernesto Fonseca (24), Illinois rider Brian Mason (95) and New Mexico’s Ryan Clark are in hot pursuit. You can also just see the No. 2 plate of Jeremy McGrath just ahead of this group. Travis Pastrana won the heat over Roncada and Fonseca. Ricky Carmichael won the main event.
