American Honda Superbike Rider Would Go On to Win Championship that Year

In this week’s Throwback we dial back the clock to 1998 and that year’s AMA Superbike race at Road Atlanta. This photo shows Ben Bostrom (11) leading Anthony Gobert (95), Thomas Stevens, Rich Oliver (97) and Aaron Yates (20). Bostrom had an amazingly consistent season of top finishes that year aboard the factory Honda RC45 and went on to win the AMA Superbike Championship despite not winning a single race. And even more incredible was the fact that second-ranked Doug Chandler also went winless on the season.
Next week MotoAmerica will roll into Road Atlanta for the kickoff of the 50th anniversary season of MotoAmerica/AMA Superbike.
