Freddie Spencer Nails the Start, Mike Hale Scored the Victory
In this week’s Throwback Thursday, we dial back the clock to 1995’s AMA Superbike Series finale at Firebird International Raceway in Chandler, Arizona. The photo shows the start of the race with Fast by Ferracci Ducati rider Freddie Spencer (19) getting the early jump on the rest of the field. Riders chasing Freddie include Pascal Picotte (21), Dale Quarterley (32), Thomas Stevens (11), Mike Hale (23), Jamie James (2), Mike Smith (68), Chris Carr (74) and many others. Even though Freddie got the great start it was Honda’s Mike Hale who motored his way to the front to take the win.
