Toni Bou (Repsol Honda Trial Team) secured a decisive and convincing win in the second round of the 2026 FIM X-Trial World Championship held in Madrid. Riding the Montesa COTA 4RT HRC factory bike, he completed the Final with only two penalty points, having already been the top rider in Q1.
Bou’s teammate, Gabriel Marcelli, and Jaime Busto (GasGas) joined the 19-time World Champion on the podium, just as they did in Andorra la Vella and in the same order. Marcelli had a mathematical chance of winning until the final section, where he arrived with six penalty points to Bou’s two, but he picked up two more to finish in second place, a position he had already secured by then, as both five points had left Busto far from the fight for victory.
The fourth-place finisher was Arnau Farre (Sherco), who, just as he did in his only race of last year in Cahors, once again finished among the top four and fell far from the podium positions after the fourth section.
Fifth place went to Harry Hemingway (Beta), who was unable to make it into the final, as he had done in the first round of the year. Behind him was Frenchman Benoit Bincaz (Electric Motion), ahead of Italians Francesco Titli (TRRS) and Matteo Grattarola (Beta), whose fall in the fifth section of Q1 left him without a chance due to a severe impact on his left hand.
“It was a perfect X-Trial for me because I rode at a high level and everything went perfectly, as evidenced by the only two penalty points in the final,” Bou said. “I’ve worked hard since the first round of the season with my team, and my injured shoulder has caused me less discomfort, just occasional pain.”
After two rounds, Bou leads the championship with 40 points, followed by Marcelli with 30 and Busto with 24.
The third round of the season is scheduled for November 8 on Reunion Island (Saint Denis). CN
