Round three of the 2025 AMA MotoClimb Super Series (MSS) returned to Walhalla, North Dakota, for the annual Express Pros Brick Mine MotoClimb, July 5-6. Tristan Alexander of Laurel, Montana, took the overall win for the second year in a row.

Four racers made the journey from La Bresse, France, to line up against the best racers in the USA. These individuals—Thomas Jolly, Yohan Peltier, Julien Saporiti and Donovan Gerard—are top finishers in the French Montee Impossible Motoclimb races. Although the bikes and terrain were vastly different from what they typically race back home, the Frenchmen adapted quickly and displayed their adept bike-control skills and unique line selections to pilot the American-style machines for excellent runs throughout the day.
Even though over 1.5 inches of rain fell on the hill in the days leading up to the event, it provided excellent traction, allowing the racers to push the limits of their machines and the hill itself. The Eagle Ridge Motorcycle Club put together unique hill layouts for each of the three series classes: Pro Modified, Pro Open and Pro Stock. The Brick Mine features a fast motocross-style section at the bottom of the hill with whoops and a series of step-up double jumps, and then leads into the naturally rough, steep and technical top portion. Both parts of the hill require different skills—including throttle control, line selection and bike maneuvering—to summit the hill and finish with a fast time.
The first class of the day, Pro Modified, featured 450cc-700cc bikes with extended swingarms and choice of rear tires. Many racers chose to use specialized, hillclimb-specific paddle tires to maximize traction on the saturated soil. Seven of the 35 entrants conquered the extremely rough and technical hill to receive a time. At his home race, rising star Dexter Hoenhause of Lisbon, North Dakota, had the fastest time after two runs with a 22.096-second ride on his KTM 490 SX-F.
Another very technical hill was used for the Pro Open class, which proved to be a challenge for even the most talented racers to tame their 100-plus horsepower bikes. Twin-cylinder motorcycles dominated the class, with Tristan Alexander picking up his first win of the day with a time of 22.693 seconds on his 1190cc KTM, Yohan Peltier in second place riding a Buell 1190HCR, and Joel Falde rounding out the podium on his KTM 1190.
In the afternoon, it was time for the Pro Stock class, in which 250cc-450cc two-strokes, four-strokes, and electric machines with stock wheelbases attempted to crest the steep and rough Brick Mine hill. With less than one second separating first through fourth places, Alexander took another win with a 21.187-second ride on his Husqvarna FC 450. Second and third places were Payton Reimers of Billings, Montana, and Dexter Hoenhause, respectively.
The Pro Stock Verticross racing finished out the day, where the top 32 qualifying Pro Stock racers were seeded into a bracket to race head-to-head on the hill. The final race in the bracket featured two Montana natives: Alexander on his Husqvarna FC 450 versus Payton Reimers riding his Stark Future Varg. Alexander used his motocross background to establish an early lead over Reimers in the bottom portion of the hill and held on over the top to take the win.
The fourth and final event in the 2025 MotoClimb Super Series will take place on July 13 in Bay City, Wisconsin.
