J Day Off-Road hosted round six of the AMA East Regional Championship, sponsored by Fox Racing, the Crow Hill GP 1, at Crow Hill MX Park in Baldwinville, Massachusetts, on June 22. In challenging weather conditions, Yamaha rider Brandon Gregoire emerged as the overall winner in the two-moto format that combines elements of motocross and off-road racing.

After last weekend’s rain and mud, riders faced scorching heat and a dry, sandy track. In moto one, Beta rider Brayden Nolette set himself up with a great start by grabbing the Fox Racing holeshot. However, AmPro Yamaha’s Gregoire, the defending Pro AA and Pro 125 Champion, pushed to the front of the pack only a few corners into the race.
Plaistow Powersports team rider Justin Cokinos quickly moved into second place and stayed within four seconds of the leader for several laps. Cokinos waited until the fifth lap before making his move and a pass on the leader. He then held off Gregoire for the win.
Beta’s Brayden Nolette rode steady in third, pulling time on fourth-place Taylor Beckwith.

Alex Phaneuf battled from eighth to finish fifth in the 89-degree heat.
Moto two started with Gregoire out front and quickly building a 12-second lead by lap two. He took the win with a comfortable margin of one minute and 17 seconds ahead of Cokinos.
Despite the heat, Cokinos opened a 17-second gap on Nolette by the end of lap one and held on to keep the position.
Nolette finished third after passing Jake Abbott early in the moto. Anthony Federico Jr moved up from seventh to fifth, getting by Yamaha’s Kyle Geatani, who placed sixth in the moto.
On the podium, Gregoire’s 2-1 scores earned him the overall win. Justin Cokinos (1-2 scores) and Brayden Nolette (3-3 scores) rounded out the podium.
The top amateur of the day was Daniel Desmarais (Yamaha), who finished 10th overall and placed first in the 200cc A class. He was followed home by both the top Open A rider, Patrick Gougeon (GasGas), and the top 250cc A rider, Matt Webb (Yamaha).

In the Women’s Pro division, Yamaha rider and championship leader Kayla O’Neill took the overall victory after winning both motos over Destiny Artegian (Kawasaki).
In the overall J Day Off-Road GP Championship, which is nearing its halfway point, Cokinos holds a narrow three-point lead over Gregoire, 131-128. Nolette is third on 116.CN
