Stockholm (April 12, 2024) – Mips, a global leader in helmet-based safety, today announces its latest partnership in off-road motorcycle racing as the Official Safety Partner of the 2024 FIM Motocross World Championship (MXGP).
The MXGP features stops at some of the most renowned motocross venues around the globe. For 2024, you will find the distinctive yellow Mips logo along the tracks, signifying the commitment to raising awareness of rotational motion and advancing helmet safety standards. The partnership will also include the first international Safety Symposium, a gathering of partner brands, riders, media, and industry leaders to educate and engage in insightful conversations around helmet safety and Mips’ mission to lead the world to safer helmets.
“We’re thrilled to become MXGP’s Official Safety Partner,” said Max Strandwitz, CEO of Mips. “Helmet safety is paramount in the high-speed, high-risk world of off-road racing. With the MXGP’s global footprint, we have the chance to connect with and educate motorcycle enthusiasts around the world. Our upcoming Safety Symposium also presents a unique opportunity to showcase the latest advancements and educate on the dangers of rotational motion. At Mips, we see industry standards as a baseline, not a finish line.”
The Mips safety system can already be found inside the helmets of many top MXGP and MX2 racers, including Team HRC’s Tim Gajser, a five-time World Champion and Team Mips member. The success of riders wearing helmets equipped with the Mips safety system is undeniable, as racers with Mips technology appeared on the podium 42 times (MXGP – 14, MX2 – 28) and won nearly half (16/38 motos) of the races in 2023. The 2024 season is already off to a strong start. Tim Gajser earned his first win of the season in Argentina and currently sits in second place overall as the championship gears up for the MXGP of Trentino on April 14th.
David Luongo, CEO of Infront Moto Racing: “We are delighted to welcome Mips as the Official Safety Partner of the 2024 FIM Motocross World Championship. Safety is a top priority in our sport, and this collaboration underscores our commitment to advancing helmet safety standards. With Mips’ innovative technology and dedication to raising awareness, we look forward to promoting safer racing environments for our athletes and fans worldwide.”
