Blake Baggett Returns to Riding
Cycle News Staff | April 9, 2024
Video surfaced this week of Blake Baggett riding what looks to be a factory-prepped Rockstar Husqvarna FC450. With a full Fox Racing kit on and Christian Craig’s mechanic, Jared Warrick, at the wrenches it looked like Baggett might be tagged as a fill in rider for the injured Craig. Baggett, the 2012 250MX champion and former 450SX race winner, said it’s been over 1200 days since he last rode, citing his quiet retirement back in 2020.
The video, which racked up over 330,000 views on his Instagram account shows “El Chupacabra” riding at Fox Raceway which will later serve as round one of the 2024 Pro Motocross Championship.
Upon further investigation, thanks to an interview with Vital MX, it was confirmed that Baggett was not testing for the upcoming Pro Motocross series. Rather, he just had “the itch” and called in an outstanding favor from Husqvarna team manager Nate Ramsey. Ah what could’ve been! Either way it’s good to see former champs back in the saddle.
