2023 Honda XL750 Transalp First Look
Honda’s long-rumored return to the middleweight adventure class has finally been unveiled in the 2023 Honda XL750 Transalp.
The OG Transalp ran in XL400V, XL600V, XL650V, XL700V, and XL750 from 1986 to 2008 but the recent boom in mid-size ADV riding has seen the name return in an all-new machine.
It’s been a long time coming but Honda’s mid-size ADV bike has finally broken cover.
It’s powered by 755cc, 270° crank, eight-valve, parallel twin-cylinder engine with 90 horsepower and 55 lb-ft of torque with Throttle By Wire (TBW), four riding modes of Sport, Standard, Rain and Gravel plus User option, five-level Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), unfortunately with the Wheelie Control algorithm integrated into the mode, and three levels of Engine Brake Control and overall power. The ABS also has an off-road setting that allows the ABS to switch off on the rear caliper.
The chassis is a steel backbone with Showa 43mm SFF-CA inverted forks and a rear shock using Honda’s Pro-Link system.
The front brakes are pretty small in the two-piston calipers gripping 310 mm discs, with a single piston caliper/256mm rear disc set-up. The wheels are a 21/18-inch combination wearing 90/90-21/150/70-18 tires from either Metzeler Karoo Street or Dunlop Mixtour.
No word as yet form American Honda on MSRP or if the Transalp will come to America as a 2023 or a 2024 model.
