Update April 6, 2023
The race organizers of the Best in the Desert series have made the decision to remove May’s Golden State 250 event from the schedule. That event will be moved to November 9-12 date and run as the UTV Legends Championship. The promoter also stated that the Silver State 300, scheduled for April 20-22, is postponed due to the recent storms causing flooding on many parts of the racecourse. They are tentatively looking at a September date for the event.
Bryan Folks, Best In The Desert CEO, said, “Once again, Best In The Desert has been faced with some very difficult decisions. These changes come with a true love for the sport, and appreciation for your continued support of Best In The Desert.”
The legendary “Casey Folks” Vegas to Reno is set for August 16-20.
Update from February 2023
Mother Nature Forces Postponement of Golden State 250
This is a press release from BITD…
Due to huge storms dumping feet of snow, causing road closures by the Highway Patrol in California City and surrounding areas, we have been forced to postpone the RIGID Golden Stage 250, which was scheduled for this weekend, February 24-26. New dates for the event, at the same location, are now May 18-20, 2023.
Bryan Folks, Best In The Desert CEO, said, “BITD has been faced with another very difficult decision. This decision comes with much trepidation. BITD races rain, snow or shine. It does not matter. We are racers and racers race no matter what the conditions bring. This is how we were raised and this is what we do. However, BITD spent the morning on the phones with the California Department of Transportation and they confirmed that there is a high probability that Interstate Highways will shut down due to snow and ice. Therefore, it is senseless to have a race that racers cannot get to safely. As such, we have made the very, very difficult decision to postpone the Golden State 250 and move the new race date to May 18-20. Thank you for your continued support of Best In The Desert, we appreciate you.”
The next round is the Silver State 300, planned for April 20-22.
