Seven-time Supercross and former 250cc National Motocross Champion Jeremy McGrath has been named the recipient of the 2022 Edison Dye Motocross Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by Glen Helen Raceway and Dubya USA.
While McGrath was becoming known as primarily a Supercross specialist, he was also a formidable motocross rider, winning the AMA 250cc MX Championship in 1995.
During his career, McGrath rode for Kawasaki, Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha and even KTM for a brief time. He was the first rider to own and ride for his own factory-backed team.
He announced his retirement before the opening round of the 2003 AMA Supercross Series in Anaheim. Though retired from full-time Supercross and motocross competition, McGrath continued his racing career after being inducted into the Motorcycle Hall of Fame.
This year’s ceremony will take place Saturday, November 5, at Glen Helen Raceway. There will be a meet and greet from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The award presentation will commence at 5:30 p.m., followed by an autograph session with McGrath and other prior recipients at the Glen Helen Museum. CN
