Throwback Thursday: Northwest Racing Scores Team Challenge Victory
In this week’s Throwback we wind back the calendar almost 26 years to May of 1994 and the AMA/CCS Middleweight Team Challenge race at Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, California. This was the podium celebration after Northwest Racing scored it’s one and only victory of the season. That day Northwest featured riders Dean Mizdal and fill-in Brad Hazen, who was subbing for an injured Andy Fenwick. Mizdal ran the first leg of the one-hour race with Hazen taking the Northwest Racing Honda CBR600 to the finish and win. Northwest would go on to finish third in that year’s series behind Moto Liberty Honda and AGV Sport Group.
Pictured on the podium (from L to R) are third-place finishers H.I. Racing 2 with Dale Kieffer and John Hilton; then the winners Dean Mizdal and Brad Hazen from Northwest Racing and race runners up AGV Sport Group’s Scott Zampach and Shawn Higbee.
