2020 Tampa Supercross Blake Baggett Update

At round 7 of the Monster Energy/AMA Supercross Series this past Saturday night in Tampa, Florida, Rocky Mountain ATV/MC KTM’s Blake Baggett had an incident in his heat race, clipping another racer in the air on the opening lap of his heat race. Baggett was up quickly from the fall and raced through the field to qualify for the night’s 450SX main event, but then didn’t line up for the main.
In the fall, Baggett was clipped by a third racer and, although adrenaline carried him through the heat race, the soreness began to set in. Baggett was suffering from whiplash-like symptoms as his neck and upper back muscles began to spasm and lock up, according to the team. By about 15 minutes prior to the 450cc main, the pain and spasms had escalated to a point where Baggett could no longer hold his head up; an oft-overlooked requirement for racing supercross, as it turns out.
So Baggett and his team decided Baggett should sit out the main event.
However, have no fear, race fans, as El Chupacabra will be lining up for this weekend’s Triple Crown event in Arlington, Texas, round 8 of the 17-round series.
