Ducati to Release Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916
Rennie Scaysbrook | July 10, 2019
Ducati will release a 500-model only Panigale V4 inspired by the legendary 916 in the Ducati Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916.
This year marks 25 years since the Ducati 916 arrived on the superbike scene, a machine widely regarded as one of the most beautiful motorcycle ever created. Massimo Bordi and the late Massimo Tamburini crafted the 916 as the replacement to the aging 888 superbike line, creating a timeless masterpiece that went on to claim WorldSBK Championship wins for Carl Fogarty, Troy Corser, and in 996cc form, Troy Bayliss.
The Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916 will be on display at this weekend’s Laguna Seca WorldSBK round, with a presentation scheduled for 8:00 pm at Pebble Beach on July 12 attended by Fogarty himself.
Ducati team will pay a further tribute to the 916 when Alvaro Bautista and Chaz Davies’ bikes take to the track with a special livery inspired by the graphics of the Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916.
We will have a very special feature and video coming in the next few weeks here at Cycle News on the history of the 916, and a video test on a 1997 916 SPS.
