Round 6 of AMRA Offroad Championship Presented by Motocity

The 2019 Arizona Motorcycle Riders Association Motocity Anthem-sponsored season continued as they headed to Morristown, Arizona for round six, the SOLLiD’s Day in the Desert, hosted by FASTR MC. This race was the first Restart Enduro race of the year, with a lengthy 90-mile course for the A riders, 65 miles for B riders, and 50 miles for the C riders. The Arizona desert did not give any special treatment to the riders as they traversed waterfalls, inclines, and plenty of tricky endure sections.
AA Pro class
In the AA Pro class, it was Nick Brawner on his Team Topar backed by Hard Enduro Outfitters Sherco on the top step of the podium after three tests and a total time of 3 hours and 35 minutes. Behind him was the AZ Dirtbike Training KTM of Ryan Wells, only two minutes behind him and keeping within two minutes the entire day. Third place would go to the Team Topar backed by Hard Enduro Outfitters Sherco 300 SEF Zack Brawner, finishing one minute behind Wells. Rounding out the top 10 would be Brent Larsen, Jim Herrero, Kelby Pepper, Alec Brawner, Teylon Pepper, Trey Jones and Nick Gabbert.
Open A class
The Open A class had GasGas support rider James Flynn taking first with Nick Fouts and Nick McGowan in third. The 250A class had local rider Noah Tidball on the top spot with Bret Dooley and Blake Donatelli following in third. 200A had another dominant performance by the 2A Safety training rider Kyler Heimer, taking the win. Class 30A had Dustin Walcher on top, with second-place Brett Kimbal and third-place David Kertz behind them. The 40A podium consisted of Robert Naughton, Philip Carlin and Keith Larson. The veteran riders of 50A had Ernie Allsup on the top step with Cecil Schrader and Dan Hart following closely behind.
Open B class
Open B had a stacked 18 rider class, which was taken by Thomas Parrella, Jacob Ellison and Jack Geise. Shelby Turner came out to conquer the rough course with a dominant win in 250B, with an 18-minute lead on second-place Tanner Teall and third-place Bryce Johnston. Caleb Lamca took the win in 200B with second-place Billy Kovacs and Michael MacLean. 30B was taken by Joseph Brown, with Christopher Markle and Jonathan Buchanan taking second and third. 40+B saw Steve Keller at the top spot with Brian Moffett and Ryan McClenahan behind him. Fred Beaver, David Vogt and JB Stuart rounded the podium of 50B, while the 60B class saw Michael May, Jon Hesselwood and Allen Poore in the top three. Representing more women, Daiana Trapp, Bibi Carmouche and Jilene Oakley took the top spots of Women B.
Open C class
Kevin Bradley, Jeremy Nelson and Kristopher Samford took the top three in Open C, while Yohaly Hernandez, Kaden Bedlion and Zachery Griswold ran 1-3 in 250C. 200C had Deegan Bach, Jacob Campbell and Kaelyn King in the top three. Andrew Boyd, Gregory Simons and Garrett Anderson took the podium in 30C, and Jasper Simonds, Trevor Turner and Diego Mendoza rounded out the top three in 40C. 50C had Michael Perry, Joe Visconti and Terry Neyman, while 60C had Billy Mason and Mark Koenig winning. Adriana Mcneme took the win in Women C, with Brea Core and Tracy Evans taking second and third. Dominic Craighill continued his dominance from Superminis to win the Youth C race, with Jase Anderson and Ruffin Dodson following.
The SOLLiD’s Day in the Desert had many challenging obstacles for the racers to overcome, with a varying degrees of difficulty from test to test. The next AMRA round is the Fielcraft Survival Roughrider 100 on February 15-17 in Prescott Valley. More info at AMRAracing.com and Roughrider100.com
AMRA Minis Take On Mile Markers
Round 5 of AMRA Mini Offroad Championship Presented by Fly Racing
2019 AMRA Mini Offroad Championship, Round 5, SoLLiD’s Day in the Desert, January 20, 2019
The Mini riders of the 2019 Fly Racing AMRA Offroad Championship Series came to Morristown, Arizona at Mile Marker 4 to take on a challenging track in the unforgiving desert of southwest AZ.
With a one-mile course, the 50cc racers came out to conquer the desert track. All race was Edward Reim in the 4-6 Year-Old class and Kyle Riddle in the 7-8 Year-Old class battling for the top spot. After five lead changes over seven laps, it was the youngster Reim that took the victory. Riddle would take second overall and first in class, with Liam Gillespie in the 4-6 class rounding out the top three overall. Within classes, Sean Riddle took third place in 4-6 Year-Old, and Gary Sanders and Tanner Hardcastle took second and third in 7-8 Year-Old.
65cc class
The second race hosted the 65cc class, with a packed race and a large crowd of spectators and parents supporting their kids. Jon Nordling took an early lead and held it all race, taking the class and overall win. Jesse Blevins-Heck took second overall and second in the 10-11 class and Deegan Fox took third overall and the class win in the 7-9 class. Colton Calmes took third in the 10-11 class, with Grady Mentzel and Drake Powell took second and third in their 7-9 class.
Superminis
Lastly, the Superminis took to their 12-mile course with determination. Dominic Craighill took the holeshot and maintained his lead both laps and took the Supermini win with Jonathan Kirat taking second, 4 minutes behind Craighill. Jeremiah Campbell took third overall and the 85cc 12-14 win. Matthew Trapp and Ruffin Dodson took second and third in the 12-14 class following Dodson. In the 85cc 9-11 class, Jace Vogt and Jackson Powell finished first and second with both laps completed, and Kayden Sanders took third with one lap completed.
The Minis finished round five successfully and am looking forward to the round six stop in Prescott Valley at the Roughrider 100. More info is available at AMRAracing.com and roughrider100.com
