The 2018 Kenda Full Gas Sprint Enduro Series Championship was decided at the final round at the Hidden Valley Golf Course in Glen Daniel, West Virginia, October 20-21. Steward Baylor came into the race leading Josh Strang by just two points, but when all was said and done, it was Strang (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna) who owned the points lead and emerged as the 2018 sprint enduro champion.
Strang put himself is good shape to win the title on Saturday after dominating all day. Grant Baylor was second, followed by Layne Michael and Steward Baylor. By winning the day, Strang shot into the points lead, earning 30 points to Steward Baylor’s 18 points for fourth place. This meant that a third on Sunday would wrap it up for Strang.
Baylor did what he had to do on Sunday and went out and won, but there was nothing he could do about Strang, who took second on the day and the championship, closing out the season five points ahead of Baylor.
“It feels great to win the title, especially as good as Stew was riding on Sunday,” said Strang. “I did what I had to do on Saturday and the rest took care of itself.”
Baylor did get the overall win but had to settle for second in the championship.
Michael (KR4 Husqvarna) was third overall. Jordan Ashburn (Beta USA) and Liam Draper (KR4 Husqvarna) rounded out the top five overall.
In the championship, finishing behind Strang and Baylor were Grant Baylor, Michael and Ryan Sipes, in that order.
