2018 Big 6 WCGP Taft Results – Zach Bell returned to his winning ways in the 2018 Big 6/West Coast Grand Prix Championship. Bell dislocated his shoulder at the series opener (Adelanto Grand Prix) and barely managed to squeak out a top-10 finish. This time, at Honolulu Hills Raceway in Taft, California, the 3 Bros./STI Husqvarna rider took the lead on the second lap and ran off with the win.

“I only had a few days on the bike before the first round,” Bell said. “We didn’t want to do a lot of [rushed] testing and just be a head case so we took last month and really started testing, doing our motos and getting my shoulder better—I dislocated it in the first round on the first lap so that was part of the issue.”

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Off-Road Team’s Dalton Shirey took second after working his way up from a bad start. Shirey got into second near the halfway point and put on a charge after Bell, but a crash late in the race put an end to that. Shirey, however, still finished second, followed by FMF/Maxxis/RPM Racing KTM’s Eric Yorba.

Monster Energy/STI/Fly Racing’s Justin Jones was fourth, followed by Chaparral Motorsports/Precision Concepts Kawasaki’s Justin Seeds.

CST Honda’s Beau Baron overcame a slow start to top the WCGP Pro 2 class, earning 14th overall. Chaparral Motorsports/Precision Concepts Kawasaki’s Clay Hengeveld—the round-one winner—settled for second with 3 Bros./STI Husqvarna’s Jakub Alvarez third.

In the WCGP Women Pro division, KTM support rider Brandy Richards bounced back from the concussion she suffered at round one to claim victory aboard her Bell Helmets/Fly Racing 450 XC-F ahead of FMF KTM’s Kacy Coy and MMR/Maxxis KTM’s Lauren Woods
