2018 Arlington 250cc Supercross Results: Zach Osborne has never defended a title in his professional racing career, and the Arlington Supercross became the official start of his first-ever title defense. And he picked up right where he left off.

The two 250cc East heat races were won by the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki crew, one going to Austin Forkner, and the other to Martin Davalos, but off the start of the main event, Davalos went down hard and was run over, taking Monster Energy/Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha’s Dylan Ferrandis, and a few others, down with him.

GEICO Honda’s RJ Hampshire took the early lead with TLD/Red Bull KTM’s Sean Cantrell, CycleTrader/Rock River Yamaha’s rookie Brandon Hartranft and Osborne in tow. Osborne went to work immediately, passing Hartranft before falling down in a corner and dropping back to fifth. Starting over, he grabbed fourth when Hartranft fell (remounting sixth), then chased down Ferrandis’s teammate Colt Nichols for third a few laps later.

Next up was Cantrell, and Osborne kept it clean going by the youngster on lap eight. By then, Hampshire had a decent lead, and Osborne whittled it down over the course of a handful of laps, but Hampshire ended up going down on his own in the whoops, handing the lead to Osborne.

Osborne took the win over Nichols, while AutoTrader/JGR Suzuki’s Jimmy Decotis worked his way up from the tail end of the top 10 to third at the finish line, just in front of a dejected Hampshire and his teammate Jeremy Martin, who started well outside the top 10 and ended the night in fifth.

The series continues next Saturday night in Tampa.
