Santa Ana, CA (September 6, 2017) — ROR Brands welcomes motorcycle seat pro Kim Kulman to its family of brands. For the past 20+ years, Kim has specialized in motorcycle seats, working on every aspect from sewing and sourcing to customer service and sales. Most recently with Mustang Motorcycle Seats, she joined the Royal Riding team just in time for the Sturgis Rally and the introduction of the RodeMaster™ gel-integrated seats.
“The Royal Riding brand has been around for nearly a decade,” says ROR Brand president Rod Derifield. “It was founded by someone who wanted to help riders ride in more comfort. We want to build on this foundation by helping people ride further. By bringing knowledge and materials from other industries and combining them with motorcycle seat expertise, we can help riders ride farther with more comfort. Kim is uniquely qualified to help us achieve this goal.”
Although she graduated from Plymouth State University in 1994 with a degree in Environmental Biology, Kulman immediately went to work at Northeast Seat, a division of Mustang Motorcycle products. From 1994-1996 she worked in the sewing department placing all the embellishments on the seats — adding conchos, studs, making buttons, heat stamping logos onto pattern pieces and silk screening. She also started going to motorcycle rallies to support the field sales reps.
“I have been attending motorcycle rallies since 1994,” says Kulman. “This is where I gained my knowledge of the bikes and seat fitments.” She also remembers the first Rally she attended and first seat she sold: Americade in 1994. “The first seat I sold was for a Yamaha Virago.”
From 1996-1998 she was promoted to Trade Show Coordinator and Returns Manager; then Kim shifted from 1998-2007 to customer service representative and sales; 2008-2013 she was elevated again to international sales manager and New England territory sales representative. Kim further broadened her wealth of seat-specific knowledge by taking over the call center from 2014-2015 before moving to R&D as the project coordinator in charge of new product launches in 2016.
“Her experience with R&D and new product launches will be particularly beneficial for Royal Riding as we have just introduced our first gel integrated seats after years of making seat pads,” says Derifield. “Royal Riding is the gel seat expert and Kim is a motorcycle industry pro.”
By integrating the design and materials of our gel technology with her expertise, we can provide the superior comfort and improved styling to have you riding like royalty,” adds Lars Rouland head of product design for ROR Brands.
