Second place and a sub 10 minute lap for Team Cycle News KTM North America!
It all came down to one run, and our Road Test Editor Rennie Scaysbrook threw everything he had at the Pikes Peak Mountain to come away with a stellar second place to former AMA Superbike pro and KTM teammate, Chris Fillmore.
Fillmore proved simply too good this year, as he claimed an incredible win and new lap record of 9:49.625 seconds as well as the Rookie of the Year honors.
Far from being disappointed, there was a massive grin on Rennie’s face after the disappointment of 2016. The Aussie recorded the third fastest pass in race history for a motorcycle with a 9:57.712. It was also a massive weekend for KTM, as the Austrian manufacturer claimed the top two positions in qualifying and the race, dominating the event in a manner not seen since Ducati and Carlin Dunne and Greg Tracy back in 2012.
