2017 Glen Helen 250 MX Results: Sometimes, they say, it’s better to be lucky than good. It’s not that Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Zach Osborne wasn’t good at Glen Helen, but in reality he probably shouldn’t have been good enough to win. Unlike at Hangtown a week ago, where Osborne went 1-1 to win the 250cc class, at Glen Helen he won the class with a 4-2 score. That’s where the luck came in.

In the first moto, GEICO Honda’s Jeremy Martin snared a massive holeshot and then just took off, winning over Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Joey Savatgy, Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha’s Aaron Plessinger, and Osborne, who came from midpack to snatch fourth in the moto.

Behind Osborne came Plessinger’s teammate Colt Nichols, TLD/Red Bull KTM’s Alex Martin, and Savatgy’s teammate Adam Cianciarulo, who came from nearly last to grab seventh. Osborne’s rookie teammate Michael Mosiman took home eighth in the opening moto, just in front of Frenchman Dylan Ferrandis (who started well outside the top 20), and then Alex Martin’s teammate Sean Cantrell.

In the second moto, Jeremy Martin grabbed a second massive holeshot on the day, but then later on the opening lap, he hit a watered spot and went down, remounting dead last. Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha’s Ferrandis took over the lead in front of Osborne and then slowly and surely pulled away to win his first AMA National moto.

Osborne hung on for second in the moto in front of Cianciarulo, Nichols, Alex Martin, Cianciarulo’s teammate Austin Forkner, just in front of Jeremy Martin at the finish.

Osborne’s 4-2 gave him the win, just in front of the 1-7 of Jeremy Martin and the 9-1 of Dylan Ferrandis, but Osborne’s 4-2 also managed to increase his points lead from 14 to 21 with 20 motos still left to run.
