Go head to head with the Texas Tornado himself under lights!
Colin Edwards’ Texas Tornado Boot Camp (TTBC) will once again play host to a ton of racing under the awning at the Yamalube USA and Yamaha Motor USA motorcycle facility at Montgomery, TX, in 2017—and it’s about time you guys signed up for a go!
The New Year will ring in a new season of Dirt Wars and Mad Dog racing, and you’ll be able to race against Colin himself (if you’re game) in the numerous events the crew has installed for 2017.
For those not familiar with the racing formats, Dirt Wars is a one-night race under the lights. It’s a test of skill, where riders compete on equally-prepped Yamaha TTR-125 machines provided by the camp. The event includes heat races, LCQs and main events, with classes split into Amateur and Professional, with purse money paid in the Pro divisions.
The Mad Dog event is for those riders with their own, hot-rod bikes, limited to air-cooled 175cc single-cylinder machines. The racing is wild and ultra-competitive. We had a go at the 2016 Mad Dog National last October, for the feature on the event, click this link.
And just like Dirt Wars, the Mad Dog competition will be split into Amateur and Pro divisions, with purse money being handed out to the Pro riders (last year’s Mad Dog National saw a purse of $5000!).
Get in early
The Texas Tornado Boot Camp is offering early registration for all classes in the upcoming event on January 21. Online registration closes Friday the 20th at midnight, and the TTBC recommends all racers sign up early. If you send your entry in via post, there’s an additional $10 fee per class. “What can I say? I’m really excited for the new year!,” says TTBC operations manager, Joe Prussiano. “Our first race is earlier than ever before. We just couldn’t wait any longer to get back to racing! We’ve scheduled an additional Dirt Wars this year in response to the feedback from our racers. I have my Mad Dog bike tuned up, ready to win and beat Colin. Ya’ll come on out and have some fun, unless you’re skeerd.” He means scared, for those playing at home…
