Grant Baylor Takes the Win at the Rattlesnake National Enduro
Cycle News Staff | July 25, 2016
AmPro Yamaha’s Grant Baylor took his third win of the season at the Rattlesnake National Enduro in Cross Fork, Pennsylvania. The event was round six of Kenda AMA National Enduro series. The win helped him close in on FMF KTM’s Russell Bobbitt in the points chase. Bobbitt had an off day that culminated with multiple crashes in the final test and resulted in a seventh place finish.
Grant Baylor started the day strong by winning the first two test and opening up a comfortable lead. He also won the fifth test allowing him to ride steady in the sixth and final test. At the end of the day, Grant Baylor took the win by 42 seconds over Rockstar Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Josh Strang. Grant’s older brother, Steward took the win in the final test of the day on his SRT Racing backed KTM to take the final podium position.
“I’m really happy because I got a lot of valuable points today,” said Grant. “I think I’m close with my brother and we closed in on Russ quite a bit because I think he had a bad day. It really started with that first test, I was able to put a pretty good gap on the field in that one and I carried that momentum into the next test. After that, I was able to cruise a bit and play it kind of safe in the rocks.”
Bobbitt held onto the points lead with 149 but Grant Baylor is now just nine points back with 140 and followed closely by Steward Baylor with 137. Strang (97 points) and Jesse Groemm (91) round out the top five.
