MotoAmerica: Josh Day Injured In Practice Crash
Rennie Scaysbrook | June 4, 2016
Yamalube/Westby Racing’s Josh Day has been admitted to hospital following a practice crash at Road America today.
Day is reported to have highsided his Yamaha YZF-R1, with the resulting injuries including a fractured wrist and head trauma.
Speaking to motoamerica.com, Yamalube/Westby Racing’s Chuck Giacchetto said, “Obviously, Josh suffered a pretty big highside. They did a CT scan and found head trauma, as well as a fractured wrist.
“Doctors thought Josh needed closer attention, so they transported him to Green Bay. They want to keep a close eye on him overnight because of the severity of the crash.”
Currently the three-time 2016 Superstock 1000 race-winner is not in a medicated state, according to Giacchetto, however, “He’s actually sleeping right now, which I think is a good sign. We ask everyone to respect Josh and [wife] Lauren’s privacy at this time.”
It has been a horror season for Day, who suffered a broken thumb in an enormous highside at Road Atlanta in April and only jut returned to racing action having had the pins removed on May 17.
