The KTM 1290 Super Duke GT – for the GT rider who wants extra mad on top
KTM unveiled four new machines at EICMA, but realistically they only had two new platforms – the 690 Duke and 1290 Super Duke GT. As well as increasing in power to 73hp and upping the rev limit by 1000rpm, the 690 Duke gains another balancer shaft and a redesigned cylinder head as well as a larger bore and shorter stroke engine. On the electronic side the 690 Duke gets two riding modes, but if you want to really push the electronics boat out you need the 690 Duke R. As well as an Akrapovic silencer adding 2hp to the bike’s power, the R gains traction control and ABS, both of which are angle sensitive. It also has an orange frame. Also new from KTM is the 1290 Super Duke GT, which adds a half fairing and semi-active suspension to the Super Duke base, and the 1290 Super Duke R Special Edition which has optimized chassis components from KTM’s Power Parts range.
