SEPANG, MALAYSIA, AUG. 2— Core” Motorsport Thailand Honda’s Patrick Jacobsen overcome a last corner attack from MV Agusta Reparto Corse’s Jules Cluzel to win his first career World Supersport race at Sepang.

Cluzel’s teammate Lorenzo Zanetti harried Kawasaki Puccetti Racing’s Kenan Sofuoglu for most of the race and pounced at the end to take third place and help his teammate’s championship chances.

Drops of rain on all sectors at the third lap of the race made it a tough period for all in the early stages, but the rains amounted to nothing of significance.

Cluzel and Jacobsen ran out front, with Jacobsen settling into a lead in the first third of the race.

Behind the eventual top four, PATA Honda World Supersport Team’s Kyle Smith led a pack of six riders and rode clear of them for fifth place at the flag, nine seconds down, while Team Lorini Honda’s Roberto Rolfo, CIA Landlords Insurance Honda’s Martin Cardenas and CIA Landlords Insurance Honda’s Gino Rea completed the top eight places.

Rounding out the top 10 was Team Go Eleven Kawasaki’s Christian Gamarino and Race Department ATK#25 MV Agusta’s Alex Baldolini.

There is now only 13 points between leader Sofuoglu and Cluzel in the championship fight.
