ENDURO X PARTICIPANTS
Cody Webb:
This will be Webb’s sixth X Games appearance and he has already earned three silver and two bronze medals.
Webb is the current 2014 GEICO EnduroCross Champion and the 2010 AMA Trials Champion. Webb is the lead rider for the prestigious Factory KTM/RPM Racing Team. “It’s a great honor to be a participant of the X Games and it’s even better when you come away with a medal. My trophy case is missing the Gold version so my plans are to bring one home this year from Austin.”
Ty Tremaine:
Tremaine is the current 2015 Junior SuperEnduro World Champion. He’s coming off his best EnduroCross finish to date in Las Vegas. At 19 and 6′ 4″, Tremaine is the tallest rider in the field and one of the youngest. Tremaine also rides for the Factory KTM/RPM Racing Team. “I am more hungry than ever and can’t wait for a solid finish at X Games. I’ve been training my butt off and I don’t think a podium medal position is out of the question. Whether it’s 100 degrees and sunny or 80 degrees and pouring rain, I’ve done the work and I’m ready to go!”
Ty Cullins:
Cullins is the current EX TrialsCross Champion and a factory rider for BETA Motorcycles. His 2015 move to the Pro ranks has produced a mixed bag of results, but don’t count this kid out as Cullins is a gifted and talented rider. This will be Cullins’ first X Games appearance – and it won’t be his last! “Going to my first X Games is really cool; I’ve always dreamed about being able to compete there. The competition will be tough, but I’ve been training hard and riding a lot. I have the equipment and the support, I’m looking for some good results, I think I’ll do well there.”
Cooper Abbott:
“Coop” is the current 2014 EnduroCross Amateur Champion and Austin will be his first X Games appearance. Both he and his dad, Destry Abbott, will make X Games Enduro X history as the first father and son to compete against each other on the same track. Coop has mad skills, is fun to watch and is a born competitor. “We have trained all year for the opportunity to race in the X Games – this will be the biggest event of my life and I get to do it with my dad! What could be better than that?”
Dalton Dietz:
Dietz earned his X Games invitation after his impressive ride at the Utah round of EnduroCross in April. Four weeks ago he crashed hard at the Vegas round of EnduroCross and broke his pelvis. With non-stop physical therapy and lots of hard work, Dietz says he’s ready to race. “Not knowing if I’d be able to compete was devastating but I’ve been training hard and healing quickly, so I’m ready to climb back on and give my first X Games everything I have.”
Note: Motorcycle Superstore’s KTM/RPM Racing’s Bobby Prochnau was also invited to race X Games Austin, but a broken arm has Bobby on the sidelines cheering on his team members.
Rachel Gutish:
Gutish is a regular podium finisher in the GEICO EnduroCross series and is an ISDE Silver Medalist. Last year in Austin, Gutish finished third earning her first Bronze medal. An all around athlete who sets pole vaulting records for DePauw University, Gutish is also a member of the Factory KTM/RPM Racing Team. “X Games is pretty much the biggest event in all extreme sports and it’s an honor to say you were there, competing with the best athletes in the world. Just being invited really says something plus it’s the one race all my buddies back home can watch on TV – along with a million more viewers!”
Morgan Tanke:
At 18-years-old and riding for BETA Motorcycles, Morgan is one of the few women in the country who has a factory ride. She is tenacious, a feisty redhead and one heck of a competitor. Morgan currently ranks second in the GEICO EnduroCross series Women’s Class, oh… and hates to lose! “I’m super excited for X Games this Friday! It’ll be my second year competing there and I can’t wait. Austin is an awesome town and Circuit of the Americas is a great place for the X Games. It’s going to be a hot one but, being from Southern California, I feel prepared!”
Chantelle Bykerk:
Another member of the Factory KTM/RPM Racing Team, Chantelle is a 2012 X Games Bronze medalist and the 2013 GEICO EnduroCross Women’s Champion. Chantelle hails from Canada where, you guessed it, she is the Canadian Women’s Champion.
“It took us 38 hours to drive to Austin and be part of the X Games, but we would have driven a hundred! Being invited to compete at this level is what racing is all about. All the girls have upped their game so the racing should be great – and close – and tough. I can’t wait!”
Sandra Gomez:
This will be Sandra’s fourth X Games appearance, she finished second earning a Silver Medal at last year’s Austin X Games. She also earned two Bronze Medals for X Games Barcelona and Munich. Sandra hails from Cercedilla, Spain where she competes in the FIM Trails World Championships. “X Games is always an exciting event to race. You are racing against the best riders in your discipline and to do well there means everything. I will do my best to be one step higher this year on the podium.”
FLAT TRACK PARTICIPANTS
Flat Track is one of the oldest forms of motorcycle racing in America and, thanks to Harley-Davidson, this is the first year Flat Track has been included as a medal event in X Games. The top racers in the country are invited and two of Motorcycle Superstore’s athletes are included.
Kyle Johnson:
Johnson won the 2014 AMA Pro Flat Track GNC2 Championship and earned a national number for his 2015 GNC1 rookie season. He had a top-ten finish at the Springfield Mile and has been deemed skilled enough to race with the top Flat Track racers in the world in what will be the largest viewed Flat Track event ever. “I’m thrilled to be part of the 2015 X Games and the inaugural Flat Track Race. It’s been quite a road to be ready for this along with building new bikes, but I’m ready to go racing.”
Jarod VanDerKooi:
VanDerKooi blasted onto the GNC2 scene in 2014 by dominating the Springfield Mile in his first professional race. He followed that up with two other wins on the singles, then by winning the Springfield Mile again in September to claim the GNC2 Twins title. VanDerKooi is an X Games rookie – but so are all the other Flat Track invitees. “Racing Flat Track at national events in the AMA Pro series is one thing, but to be part of the X Games and race at a world-class level is another. No matter where you finish, it’s a great event to be part of.”
