First Look: 2016 Suzuki Bandit 1250 ABS

One of the most iconic names in Suzuki’s history – the Bandit – will once again return to the company’s line-up for the 2016 model year.
The new Bandit 1250 ABS will be powered by a 1255cc, liquid cooled, fuel injected four-cylinder powerplant, with dual overhead camshafts aimed at producing strong bottom-end torque along with solid high rpm power. The engine uses the Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve to give smooth and snatch-free throttle response at any rpm, as well as increased fuel mileage and reduced emissions. To that end, the Suzuki PAIR (Pulsed-Air) system injects fresh air from the airbox into the exhaust to reduce the engine’s emissions by burning off unburned hydrocarbons.
The tubular steel chassis is the same as Bandits of old, with the rear shock using a progressive, rising rate link system designed to give a smooth ride for two-up riding. The shock itself is rebound and preload adjustable, as are the 43mm forks.
The Bandit houses Suzuki’s latest ABS system to go with the dual four-piston calipers and 310mm discs. The rear brake consists of a single 240mm disc with a single-piston caliper.
Styling has been taken back to the 90s with a familiar half-fairing showing off as much of the 1255cc four-cylinder engine as possible. The headlight has been slightly reworked and the seat can be adjusted up to 20mm.
Expect the new Suzuki Bandit 1250 ABS to be in showrooms towards the end of July for an MSRP of $9899 in red or black color schemes.
