Eli Tomac was the top rider in timed qualifying Saturday afternoon at the Indy Supercross in Lucas Oil Stadium. Tomac clocked a 51.372 aboard his Geico Honda, just nipping Team Honda’s Trey Canard who turned a 51.391. Series leader Ryan Dungey rounded out the top three, turning in a 51.436 on his Red Bull KTM.

In 250 East action Marvin Musquin pulled out a 51.832 at the last second to edge Monster Energy/Pro circuit Kawasaki’s Joey Savatgy (52.190). Jeremy Martin was third (52.466) on his Yamalube/Star Racing Yamaha. Justin Bogle, Savatgy and Musquin traded the top time in an exciting last couple of minutes of the session.

Weston Peick led the early minutes of the 450 session. Coley Seely also briefly headed the leaderboard, but in the end it was Tomac with the best time. Canard survived a pretty good fall in a rhythm section during the final 450 qualifying session. He got up and looked OK after the crash.

Jimmy Albertson crashed earlier in the day and looked like he popped his shoulder out of socket. It was reported later that he would sit out the race today.

Baggett and Anderson Tangle
Yoshimura Suzuki’s Blake Baggett and Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Jason Anderson had a confrontation in practice. Anderson started to come down on Baggett in a turn and Baggett nailed Anderson causing Anderson to crash. Anderson retaliated by running into Baggett later in the session. The two had words afterwards and both were talking with AMA officials after the session. Neither rider wanted to talk about the incident afterwards.

Golden Crashes, Qualifies 42nd but Still May Make Evening Progam
Vicki Golden was looking good in her attempt to become the first female to make the program of an AMA Supercross event. She was running sixth in her session when she came up short on a jump and went over the bars of her HRT Racing Suzuki. Golden remounted and continued riding, but was unable to get back up to speed before the checkered flag came out. In spite of the crash Golden came as close as she has all season, qualifying 42nd. Even though only the top 40 from qualifying make it into the program, there is a chance Golden could make it since a couple of riders who qualified in front of her suffered hard crashes and may not be able to continue. If she makes it through, it would mark a historic milestone in the sport.
