After putting on a late push for the win, the US World Trophy Team finished second behind defending champs France at this year’s FIM International Six Days Enduro in San Juan, Argentina. Making no mistakes on day six, France secured their third consecutive victory in the ISDE. Taylor Robert, Kailub Russell, Mike Brown, Charlie Mullins, Thad DuVall and Zach Osborne, turned in some great rides throughout the week, and might have been in position to beat the French had it not been for a DNF for Osborne and day one and a nine-minute penalty for Robert on day three. Spain delivered a consistent ride to end their week on the podium in third overall. One of just two nations to keep all six riders in the race, Germany placed fourth while host nation Argentina were rewarded with fifth overall for their efforts in front of their home fans. Recording their first win in the ISDE since the late Kurt Caselli led them to victory in 2006, the United States claimed an emotional victory in the FIM Junior World Trophy class. Topping the standings by one-minute and forty-two seconds, Grant Baylor, Steward Baylor, Trevor Bollinger and Justin Jones made it a week to remember for USA in Argentina. Suffering their first defeat in four years France placed as runner-up with Australia third. Germany and Argentina completed the top five. Team USA’s lone survivor in the Women’s division, Mandi Mastin, finished the event in fifth position, with the team finishing third. Kailub Russell won the E2 class on day sixth and finished the event in second overall behind event winner France’s Pela Renet. Taylor Robert finished the week in fourth in the E2 class, and may very well have competed for the individual win had it not been for his nine-second penalty when his bike wouldn’t start on day three. US Junior rider Justin Jones was eighth on the day in the E2 class, with Tad DuVall finishing 10th. Producing one of the most tightly fought battles of the day, the Enduro 3 category was won by United States’ Michael Brown from teammate Taylor Robert. Finishing day six in third, Australia’s Toby Price – KTM claimed the overall win in E3 ahead of Spain’s Ivan Cervantes and Brown. In the Clubman classes, Gary Sutherlin and Andrew DeLong finished first and second overall, respectively, in the individual standings. Meanwhile, Cory Buttrick won the E3 division with a dominating performance all week. With the 2014 ISDE now successfully completed, the competitors can begin to look forward to the ninetieth edition in Kosice, Slovakia, which will take place from 7th to 12th September 2015.
