The AMA MAXC Racing Series headed to Casey, Illinois, and the Lincoln Trail Motorsports Park for round nine of the series. Chris Bach earned the win followed by Adam Bonneur and Teddy Mullins.

Despite starting almost dead last, Bach worked his way into the number-one spot by lap two. Although he is accustomed to racing in the woods, he actually trains riding motocross more than he does in the woods, which played to his advantage at the Mid America Challenge. Once out front, Bach began to put a gap between him and the rest of the Pro field to finish just over a minute ahead of second place.

“I like this place a lot,” Bach said. “It’s challenging, it was pretty fun, but it definitely kept me on my toes all race. The first couple laps were pretty crazy with these guys up front. Everyone was going all over the place.”

Adam Bonneur ended up second, which was his best finish in the MAXC Racing Pro division. Bonneur started around midpack but would slowly work his way into the top three. By lap two, the Illinois-native made the pass into second place and would hold the position for the rest of the seven-lap race.

“Today went well,” he said. “We were all kind of together the first lap. It was a lot of fun and we were all trading places. Once I got around everybody, I tried to ride my own race. I kept Teddy [Mullins] behind me, but he was definitely not making it easy for me.”

Rounding out the MAXC Racing Pro Bike podium was Teddy Mullins. The KTM-mounted racer has landed on the podium the last two races and now sits second in the points with only one round remaining. Mullins ran consistent lap times and battled with Bonneur the whole race but was unable to make the pass before the finish.

“It was a fun race,” Mullins said. “The first couple laps we were all real close. On lap two or three, Adam and me hooked up and we were riding pretty good and then Bach just checked out. I was just trying to keep up with Adam then I made a mistake. I laid it down and got mixed up, but I will take third. It was just a fun day of racing.”

The Mid America Cross Country Racing Series will head to the final round in Gosport, Indiana, November 1.
