LEXINGTON, Ohio (July 19, 2014) — Josh Hayes topped the one and only practice session before this afternoon’s AMA Pro Superbike race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Because of rain this morning there will be no qualifying session. Instead riders will be gridded by points, meaning Hayes will start from the pole.

Hayes clocked a 1:31.889 on his Monster Energy/Graves Motorsports Yamaha R1. That was 1.197 seconds better than David Anthony (1:33.086), who was second on his ADR Motorsports Honda. Cameron Beaubier was third on the second factory Yamaha with a time of 1:33.133. Martin Cardenas and Frankie Babuska rounded out the top five.

The track still has damp sections and that’s why the times are so far off the times that might be expected from a totally dry track.

A total of 15 riders clocked time in the session.
