Supercross: James Stewart On Back-To-Back WIns

With his victory in San Diego last weekend, James Stewart became the first rider in 450 Supercross history to win at least one main event in 10 consecutive seasons. After winning this weekend’s race in Arlington, Texas, the Yoshimura Suzuki Factory rider became the first rider this year to claim back-to-back victories. Needless to say, Stewart is on a roll and his momentum has lifted him into third place overall in the series standings with a whole lot of racing left to go.

“It was a great race,” said Stewart said of this weekend’s victory. “I got a really good jump off the gate and I was keeping the pace nice and smooth because Arlington is a track you could easily override. I did have a few sketchy moments, but overall it was awesome. It was perfect. It was great to get a win last weekend and then to get another win this weekend. After our heat race, we made some changes to the bike that just made the bike all that much better. I know my team believes in me and that’s the best part. But I also believe in myself and when it was time to go racing, I was there. Now I’m looking forward to doing it again next weekend at Atlanta.”

This coming weekend in Atlanta, Stewart has a good chance to make up ground on series points leader Ryan Villopoto, and Ken Roczen, who sits in second. After seven rounds, Stewart sits just two points behind Roczen and 14 behind Villopoto.
