Carr Says Goodnight!

From the pages of Cycle News issue 36….

Chris Carr’s magical 25-year career came to a close with his seventh-place finish on Saturday night. And what a career it was. The 44-year-old Californian, who now calls Pennsylvania home, won seven AMA Grand National Championships while making it to 433 main events – more than any other rider.

When asked what he will miss most about the daily grind of being on the Grand National Championship chase, Carr said it would be his long-time tuner Kenny Tolbert.

“This is our 23rd year working together,” Carr said. “I will miss interacting with Kenny Tolbert on a weekly basis. Not being able to work with him will be the thing I miss the most.”

Bob Bellino, the man who promoted both the Sacramento Mile and the Pomona Half Mile, presented Carr with golf clubs in a pre-race ceremony that honored his retirement.
