Anaheim I Live on SPEED

Press Release | December 15, 2009

On Saturday, Jan. 9, SPEED will present six-and-half hours of live programming, starting with Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam® live (7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT) from Atlanta’s Georgia Dome, followed by the season-opening Monster Energy® AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, race from Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif. beginning at 10 pm. ET/7 p.m. PT.

“We can’t wait to produce these two great motorsports events,” said Rick Miner, SPEED SVP of Production & Network Operations. “Monster Jam is already a really cool property on the network, but it will truly be unbelievable when you think about a live production. Whether you’re eight or 80 years old, everyone enjoys monster trucks. When you combine that with the biggest race of the Monster Energy® Supercross season – Anaheim 1 – SPEED will have more than six hours of outstanding live motorsports programming from our great partners at Feld Motor Sports.”

“This is the ultimate six hours of pure motorsports coverage live from one of Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam’s premier tour stops (the Georgia Dome) and the highly anticipated Anaheim 1 Monster Energy® Supercross race,” said Charlie Mancuso, President of Feld Motor Sports. “Fans will be able to literally change gears from three hours of Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam coverage to three hours of Monster Energy® Supercross as this unprecedented night of live television unfolds on January 9.”

The live Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam presentation from Atlanta is expected to be one of the property’s largest to date, as the sport’s biggest stars, including Grave Digger® driver Dennis Anderson and Maximum Destruction® driver Tom Meents, will battle it out in front of a capacity crowd at the Georgia Dome. This show also marks the first time ever Monster Jam will be presented live for a television audience

Immediately following Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam, SPEED will take fans out to the West Coast where Feld Motor Sports will kick off the 2010 Monster Energy® Supercross season with its traditional opener from Anaheim – considered the crown jewel of the championship. This year’s championship is considered one of the most anticipated title chases ever as defending champion James Stewart will try to hold off challenges from heated rival Chad Reed and upstart competitor Ryan Villopoto, who won the season finale in Las Vegas last May.
