Kenny Roberts made the cut today in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am PGA Tour golf championship, the three-time 500cc World Champion ending the day with his professional playing partner Mark Calcavecchia at 20 under par and in a tie for sixth place. The Pebble Beach National Pro-Am is generally regarded as the biggest pro-am of the PGA season.Roberts and Calcavecchia played at Spyglass Hill today, one of three courses used in the tournament. The pair played Poppy Hills on Thursday and Pebble Beach yesterday. Tomororow’s final round will take place at Pebble Beach and with Roberts/Calcavecchia slated to tee off at 9:25 a.m. and just three strokes off the leading twosome. Calcavecchia is tied for fourth in the actual PGA tour event, six strokes behind leader Dustin Johnson.Tomorrow’s round will air on CBS at noon (Pacific Time).”It’s a tough tournament,” Roberts said in a press release issued by Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, one of Roberts sponsors in the tournament. “The six-hour rounds are a lot longer than a motorcycle race. The greens are tough and the weather is tough. It’s a tough tournament to play. But glad I’m playing well and made the final round with my teammate.”If Roberts thought today’s weather was tough on the Monterey Peninsula, wait until he see what’s in store for tomorrow as high winds and rain is expected to hit the area tonight.
