Vuillemin Out For Daytona SX

Team Yamaha’s David Vuillemin just announced that he will not compete in today’s Daytona Supercross. The series points leader injured his shoulder in a photo shoot a week ago today, but he was hoping to be well enough to ride at Daytona. After riding practice this morning, however, Vuillemin said the pain was just too great for him to continue.

“I did it last Saturday and tried to ride Wednesday, but it hurt really bad,” Vuillemin said. “I tried to ride practice today, but I just could not ride. I could not double anything and I cannot race. I came up short once and almost died [because of the pain].”

Vuillemin says that he’s not exactly sure what’s wrong with the shoulder but will have an MRI Monday. As of now, it is not known whether or not he’ll race next week at New Orleans either.

“This is very disappointing,” Vuillemin said. “I’ve worked so hard and had a chance [to win the championship]. I may never have this chance again.”
