MotoGP Sprint Race

Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) claimed his first Tissot Sprint victory of the season at Brno, launching from third on the grid to seize the lead into Turn 1 before fending off relentless pressure to the finish. Pole-sitter Ai Ogura (SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team) finished just 0.2 seconds behind in second, with Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) completing the podium.

Bagnaia made the perfect start while Ogura bogged down from pole, allowing the Italian into the lead. Behind them, Marc Marquez quickly dispatched Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) for third as Diogo Moreira (Pro Honda LCR) and Maverick Viñales (Red Bull KTM Tech3) crashed separately on the opening lap. Both riders were unhurt.

Bagnaia (63) finally got a win in 2026 at Brno in a dominant display.

Bagnaia initially built a half-second advantage over Ogura as Marquez held third ahead of Di Giannantonio and championship leader Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing). Further back, Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) and Jorge Martin (Aprilia Racing) traded places repeatedly before Acosta finally got ahead, only to crash at Turn 11 a few laps later. The Spaniard was unharmed.

With four laps remaining, Ogura began reeling Bagnaia back in, bringing Marquez with him as the leading trio edged clear. Di Giannantonio remained a lonely fourth before more drama struck when Bezzecchi crashed from fifth at Turn 3, handing Martin a top-five position.

Acosta (39) was trying but threw the bike into the gravel at half distance.

Bagnaia entered the final lap leading Ogura and Marquez, with Ogura closing rapidly but unable to find a way through. Bagnaia remained flawless under pressure to secure victory by just over two tenths of a second.

Ogura capped off a breakthrough weekend—having topped Friday practice and claimed his maiden MotoGP pole—with second, while Marquez completed the podium. Di Giannantonio finished fourth ahead of Martin, who will serve a double Long Lap penalty in Sunday’s Grand Prix.

Raul Fernandez (SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team) took sixth ahead of Red Bull KTM Tech3’s Enea Bastianini, who charged to seventh. Fermin Aldeguer (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) and Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) completed the points scorers, with Joan Mir (Honda HRC Castrol) missing out by just a tenth.

MotoGP Qualifying

Jorge Martin (Aprilia Racing) returned to action after his Hungarian GP crash but, still feeling the effects, was forced into Q1. The reigning World Champion comfortably advanced, topping the session with a 1:51.819, two tenths clear of Franco Morbidelli (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team).

Maverick Viñales (Red Bull KTM Tech3) narrowly missed out on Q2 and will start 13th, just ahead of the returning Alex Marquez (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP). An incident involving Toprak Razgatlioglu (Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP) and Enea Bastianini (Red Bull KTM Tech3) earned the Turkish rider a three-place grid penalty for Sunday’s race after stewards ruled he had impeded the Italian, dropping him behind Cal Crutchlow (Castrol Honda LCR).

Pole time for Ai Ogura in MotoGP.

Q2 delivered a dramatic fight for pole. Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) initially led from Diogo Moreira (Pro Honda LCR) and Ai Ogura (SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team), before Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) fired to the top. Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) fell just short of his teammate, but Ogura then produced a stunning lap to go more than two tenths faster with two minutes remaining.

Di Giannantonio improved again but could only climb to second, while Bagnaia held third. No one could respond on the final runs, leaving Ogura to celebrate a superb maiden MotoGP pole position at Brno.

Championship leader Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing) qualified fourth ahead of Marc Marquez and Moreira, whose impressive rookie season continued with another front-two-row start. Raul Fernandez (SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team) heads Row 3 in seventh ahead of Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing), while Morbidelli secured ninth after advancing through Q1, one place ahead of Martin. The Spaniard has a clear run in the Sprint but must serve two Long Lap penalties in Sunday’s Grand Prix for his Turn 1 incident in Hungary.

Fermin Aldeguer (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) qualified 11th ahead of Joan Mir (Honda HRC Castrol), with Viñales, Alex Marquez and Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) completing the fifth row.

Moto2 Qualifying

A Turn 1 crash couldn’t prevent David Alonso (CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team) from securing his second Moto2 pole position of the season, the Colombian setting a new Brno lap record of 1:57.718 to lead the field by 0.205 seconds. Filip Salač (OnlyFans American Racing Team) claimed second, giving the home favorite a second consecutive front-row start, while Alonso’s teammate Daniel Holgado completed the front row after also recovering from a Q2 crash.

World Championship leader Manuel Gonzalez (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) produced a late flyer to edge teammate Senna Agius for fourth, leaving the Australian fifth. Ivan Ortola (QJMOTOR – Exocom – MSI) also improved late to secure sixth on the grid—an important result as he’ll serve a Long Lap penalty in Sunday’s race.

Championship contenders Izan Guevara (BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2) and Celestino Vietti (HDR SpeedRS Team) qualified seventh and eighth respectively as they look to close the points gap to Gonzalez at Brno.

Alvaro Carpe (Red Bull KTM Ajo) heads the second row in fourth despite finishing half a second off Almansa’s pace. Teammate Brian Uriarte qualified fifth, while Eddie O’Shea (GYRD Racing) completed the second row after fighting through Q1. The Brit had originally shown enough speed to advance directly to Q2 but was disqualified from Practice for a technical infringement.

Marco Morelli (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team) narrowly missed out on a Q2 berth after being forced into Q1 following a Practice crash. Sitting second while in the pits, the Italian watched as late improvements dropped him outside the top four and ended his qualifying challenge.

2026 Czech Republic MotoGP News—Friday

MotoGP-MSMA agreement

After eleven months of intense negotiation, MotoGP and the Motorcycle Sports Manufacturers’ Association (MSMA) have confirmed an agreement on the framework of the series from 2027-’31.

2026 Czech Republic MotoGP News and ResultsMotoGP heads to one of the great racetracks at Brno in the Czech Republic.
Paolo Pavesio, Pit Beirer, Massimo Rivola, Carlos Ezpeleta, Luigi Dall’Igna, Koji Watanabe have all agreed to the MSMA proposal.

It’s the first time MotoGP and its five manufacturers have signed a contract of this kind with an eye on the sport’s future direction. Previously, MotoGP had agreed each manufacturer deal individually.

While light on details, a number of new points being discussed include a one-bike rule for riders during practice sessions, reduced practice time and a strict enforcement of team personnel operating within business hours.

Although mostly signed, the confirmation of rider signings for 2027 have yet to be announced. Ducati Corse General Manager Gigi Dall’Igna expects that to change over the coming days.

Martin apologetic after Hungary mishap

Jorge Martin apologized and vowed to improve as a rider and person when speaking for the first time after his Hungary first turn mistake which took himself and four other riders down.

Martin has been put through the wringer snce his Hungarian crash.

“I was really mentally struggling to accept what happened. But now I’m cold, I understand that this is racing, these things can happen,” he said at Brno. “Honestly, I didn’t do anything strange, just as soon as I touched the brake I lost the front, so I released the brake again and then I lost completely the control.

Commenting on Aprilia Racing CEO Massimo Rivola’s tough comments aimed at him after, Martin urged: “It’s time to be more united than ever, because if we are one against the other one, it’s like we are shooting ourselves. No sense. I spoke to Marco (Bezzecchi) after the race, twice. For sure it was difficult in that moment. I spoke with Massimo (here). Now it’s different compared to two weeks ago and everything is in the same direction.”

Alex Marquez makes his comeback

Alex Marquez made a surprise comeback just one month on from his horror spill in Barcelona, and said he was moderately surprised by how well he felt.

2026 Czech Republic MotoGP News and ResultsMotoGP heads to one of the great racetracks at Brno in the Czech Republic.
Alex Marquez was back in Brno and not too far from the top 10 in 15th.

Despite fracturing his C7 vertebra, the Catalan said his broken collarbone was more of a concern. “It was more like the muscle took out a small piece of the vertebra,” said Marquez. “So was not a really thing that worried the doctors. They were more worried about my collarbone that was broken in four pieces.”

And he insisted there were no mental scars despite the violence of the crash. “I was quite clever from the first moment, that Sunday that I started to have memory in the hospital, I said, Okay, I want to see the crash again. And then I started to remember, I accepted, I said, ‘It’s part of the job.’”

Friday MotoGP

Seven riders under the previous outright lap record and less than a second covering 19 riders, MotoGP is fiercely tight in the Czech Republic but they all chase one rider. Ai Ogura (Trackhouse MotoGP Team) set a 1’51.735 to top Friday running at Brno ahead of Championship leader Marco Bezzecchi and Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team).

2026 Czech Republic MotoGP News and ResultsMotoGP heads to one of the great racetracks at Brno in the Czech Republic.
Ai Ogura was a surprise top placer on Friday.

A second crash of the day was not how Marc Marquez envisaged his afternoon getting underway but early in Practice, the #93 tucked the front at Turn 11. Thankfully, he was all OK but it cost him track time. At the top of the standings, Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse MotoGP Team) was going well ahead of Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) before Ogura went top, making it a Trackhouse 1-2 approaching the halfway point. Bezzecchi soon changed all that as he took over in P1 with a new lap record too boot – 1’52.275 the benchmark time.

Moving into the top ten, Maverick Viñales (Red Bull KTM Tech3) was flying and so was Joan Mir (Honda HRC Castrol) in P5, whilst teammate Luca Marini had also moved up into eighth. Elsewhere, Acosta put himself back in P1 before technical problems saw him return to the paddock. Smoke visible, his session was now paused. Having been briefly out of the top ten, Ducati Lenovo Team pairing Francesco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez were straight back in the provisional top ten with the reigning World Champion setting the first-ever 1’51 of Brno.

Bezz was second and is desperate to get back into wining form after the Hungary disaster.

Need to move himself into absolute safety, Di Giannantonio climbed to P1 with four minutes left on the clock whilst 2024 World Champion Jorge Martin was 12th with less than three minutes to go. He was hustling his RS-GP around Brno and elevated himself to P8 whilst teammate Bezzecchi had snatched P1. That didn’t last long though as a mighty lap from Ogura had meant that the #79 was now leading the way. All of the changing had now left ‘Martinator’ in P10 and he was about to be shoved out of Q2 as Diogo Moreira (Pro Honda LCR) improved late on to go eighth.

Ogura got the job done and his new lap record gave him a 0.091s advantage of Championship leader Bezzecchi and Catalan GP winner Di Giannantonio. Diggia was ahead of Pecco whilst Marc Marquez rounded out the top five. Acosta was sixth whilst Mir took P7 despite a late crash at Turn 7. Moreira made it two Hondas in the top ten whilst Fermin Aldeguer (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) and Fernandez are the last of the automatic Q2 qualifiers.

Diggia slotted into third on the VR46 Ducati.

Martin in 11th is not what he ordered whilst Viñales came close but not close enough. 2021 World Champion Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) was second in the morning but 14th in the afternoon and just 0.798s behind Ogura, whilst Alex Marquez’s (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) return saw him finish in 15th. He was also passed fit for the whole weekend as he gets back in action.

Less than a 10th of a second in it as Alonso took the Moto2 Friday top time.

In a session that was briefly red-flagged following a Turn 13 crash for Barry Baltus (REDS Fantic Racing) – the Belgian was taken to hospital for further checks – Alonso’s time on his third lap ended up being the fastest of the lot in the scorching Brno temperatures. His teammate Daniel Holgado ended Friday in P4, with Hungarian GP podium finisher Senna Agius (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) a constant threat up the sharp end of the standings – the Australian was P5.

Izan Guevara (BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2) was seventh, one place behind Alex Escrig (KLINT Racing Team), while third in the championship, Celestino Vietti (HDR SpeedRS Team), squeezed into Q2 in P14 after the Italian suffered a technical issue in FP1.

And a shout-out to 11th place Taiyo Furusato (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia) after the Japanese rider bagged his first automatic Q2 result of the season. The Japanese rider finished Practice one place behind fellow rookie Jose Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo).

Friday Moto3

A perfect Friday to start the weekend, Hakim Danish (AEON Credit – MT Helmets – MSI) was in great form to top the first day in Brno action in Moto3. The Malaysian set a new lap record in the morning before bettering it in the afternoon as he goes in search of a first pole position on Saturday.

Hakim Danish roared to the top of the Moto3 class.

Unstoppable on Friday, Danish was lighting up the timing screens across both FP1 and Practice, in the end topping the opening day of Moto3 action. He was able to get ahead of David Almansa (LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP) in both sessions with the two riders the only ones able to get into the 2’04s on Friday. Third at the end of play was Championship leader Maximo Quiles (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team), just a quarter of a second behind the Malaysian in P1.

Second in the title race and just one place behind Quiles, Alvaro Carpe (Red Bull KTM Ajo) was fourth and ahead of Joel Esteban (LEVELUP-MTA) who rounded out the top five. Scott Ogden (CIP GreenPower) was just 0.020 behind the Spaniard in sixth place, ahead of Italian GP winner Brian Uriarte. Top Honda honours went to Jesus Rios (Rivacold Snipers Team) whilst Red Bull KTM Tech3 duo Rico Salmela and Valentin Perrone complete the top ten.

A late lap from Guido Pini (Leopard Racing) saw him scrape through with P14 whilst Veda Pratama (Honda Team Asia), Ryusei Yamanaka (AEON Credit – MT Helmets – MSI), Adrian Cruces (CIP GreenPower), Adrian Fernandez (Leopard Racing), Marco Morelli (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team) and Casey O’Gorman (SIC58 Squadra Corse) find themselves in Q1. The latter two suffered big highsides at Turn 6 in separate incidents but aim to make amends on Saturday.
