Michigan Racer Dominated at Louisville Downs on his Harley-Davidson

In this week’s Throwback we dial back the clock 52 years to 1974 and visit the AMA Grand National at Louisville Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. This photo shows the start of the 20-lap national on the famous half-mile cushion track. That’s Michigan’s Corky Keener (62) blasting off to a great start on his Bart Markel-built Harley-Davidson XR750. Among the riders chasing Kenner are the defending national champ Kenny Roberts (1). Keener pulled away to a dominating victory, his first AMA Grand National win. Gary Scott and Mike Kidd rounded out the podium finishers.
