The third running of the FIM Oceania Women’s Motocross Cup took place in Wonthaggi, Australia, on March 21-22, coinciding with the opening round of the Australian ProMX Nationals. Team USA captured its first overall victory, thanks to riders Lachlan Turner (Yamaha), Mayla Herrick (Honda), Jordan Jarvis (Yamaha) and Jamie Astudillo (GasGas). Team Australia and Team New Zealand finished second and third overall.

Turner proved to be the team’s MVP, as she never finished worse than second all weekend. Her 1-2-1 scores helped propel Team USA to the overall victory with the lowest total score of just 35 points. Sixteen-year-old Herrick stayed consistent with three third-place finishes, alongside WMX veteran Jarvis’s set of fourth places. Astudillo rounded off the weekend with 5-7-6 results.
“This win at the FIM Oceania Women’s Motocross Cup is incredibly special for Team USA,” said team manager Christina Denney. “It was a true team effort. Every rider showed up, rode with heart and delivered when it mattered most. I’m extremely proud of how they represented not only themselves, but also our country. This event continues to raise the bar each year, and the third edition was exceptionally well run. We’re grateful to be part of it. We felt so welcomed by everyone involved, and we’re already looking forward to coming back next year with even more countries represented. Proud moment for all of us. Go USA.”
The Australians finished with an overall score of 65 points. Aussie native Charli Cannon did not finish the race on Saturday due to a mechanical but fired back with a fierce battle against Turner on Sunday. Cannon took the win in race two, followed by a second in the final moto of the weekend. Taylah McCutcheon provided consistent results, going 3-5-5 on her Kawasaki with Darci Whalley going 8-6-8 in her rookie performance. Taylor Thompson suffered a crash in race two and finished the weekend with a 7-11-9 scorecard on her KTM.
New Zealand rounded out the overall podium with 103 points thanks to Karaitiana Horne, Amie Roberts, Mikayla Griffiths and Milla Dahlenburg. CN
