Repsol Honda HRC’s Toni Bou claimed his 19th victory at the Palau Sant Jordi at the X-Trial Barcelona in the seventh round of the indoor World Championship. GasGas Factory Team rider Jaime Busto was second, and Bou’s Montesa Cota 4RT-mounted teammate Gabriel Marcelli was third.

I’m incredibly happy and very proud of how the night went,” Bou said. “This race is very special for me, and winning again at home is something you can’t take for granted, let alone doing it for the 19th time. I want to thank the team for all their hard work, as they delivered their best performance at Palau Sant Jordi tonight. We won the first lap, and in the Superpole we managed to qualify in the best spot for the final, so I’m very satisfied with the result and the level we showed. It’s also a very important victory in terms of the title, as I’ll have my first chance to win it at the next race in Chalon-sur-Saone.”
On the first lap in Barcelona, Bou completed the first six sections with only one penalty point, which propelled him to the top of the standings and secured his spot in the final against Busto and Marcelli. In Superpole, which determines the starting grid for the final segments, he again demonstrated his huge dominance by setting the fastest time across all four sections with a time of 1:24.8.
The final seven sections presented an extra challenge for the riders. Bou proved unstoppable, however, and with 12 points to his name, the Repsol Honda rider secured the win with one section remaining. The result extends Bou’s lead in the overall standings to 135 points, 42 points ahead of Marcelli.

Busto, second on the night, said, “This second place is a good result considering how difficult the final sections were and how well Toni rode. I’ve always struggled in the final here in Barcelona, and today it was different despite the challenges. The connection with the crowd was very important.”
Marcelli, who rounded out the podium, said, “To be honest, I’m not happy with how things went today. I didn’t feel comfortable, I couldn’t quite find my rhythm on the bike, and, even so, I finished just one point behind second place. It’s a good result for the championship standings, but I want more.”
The next round will be on March 6 in Chalon-sur-Saone, where Bou will get his first chance to win his 39th World title and his 19th in indoor events. To do this, he must finish ahead of Marcelli.CN
