Things Were a Tad Tight at the Start of the 125 National

In this week’s Throwback we dial back the time machine to July of 1996 and that year’s RedBud AMA Motocross National. As always the start of the motos are hectic and here at the start of one of the 125cc motos you see riders shooting for any open spot they can find. Visible in the photo are Pedro Gonzalez (147), Kevin Windham (38) and Larry Brooks in front of the bulk of the traffic. Not far behind are Ezra Lusk (34), Buddy Antunez (22), James Dobb (19) and John Dowd (7). Finally, you can also see Tony Lorusso (42), Scott Sheak (26), Kim Ashkenazi (838), Nathan Ramsey (47), Brian Deegan (25), Tommy Clowers (112), Paul Currie (53) and others. Steve Lamson won the 125 National that day over Windham and Dowd. Riders will line up once again at RedBud this weekend for round six of the 2025 AMA Pro Motocross Championship.
