Quarterley Outscored David Sadowski and Chuck Graves

In this week’s Throwback we dial back the clock 31 years to July of 1994 and arrive at Indianapolis Raceway Park for a round of the WERA Pro Formula USA Championship. The podium had the winner Dale Quarterley (center) spraying champagne alongside Chuck Graves (left) and David Sadowski (right). Formula USA was a unique and popular road racing series featuring motorcycles with very few rule restrictions. There were AMA Superbike-spec bikes, versus 250cc and 500cc Grand Prix machines, versus methanol-burning liter bikes and about everything in between. The series developed a faithful following and Quarterley’s win at IRP on his Team Mirage Kawasaki ZX-7R in ’94 was the first F-USA victory in his career. In Indy Quarterley finished second in both legs to score the overall win over Sadowski, who went 5-1 in the two races on the LaBelle Honda and Graves who scored 4-3 on the Valvoline Suzuki.
