Based on the 390 Duke platform, the new 2025 KTM 390 SMC R Supermoto model has KTM’s latest-gen LC4c single-cylinder 399cc engine with a claimed horsepower of 44.2. Price for the 2025 KTM 390 SMC R starts at $5499 and it is expected to be in dealers in early 2025.

Its powerplant is the LC4c engine, made its debut in the 2024 Duke.
The 399cc engine has 89 x 64mm bore and stroke dimensions, double-overhead cams, and a more compact cylinder head. Claimed horsepower is 44.2. The compression ratio remains the same at 12.6:1, while a 46mm throttle body and new injectors manage fuel delivery.

A revised airbox puts the engine higher in the chassis for improved ground clearance, and the updated six-speed transmission features slip and assist functions, with a quickshifter+ optional. Its 2.4-gallon fuel tank is metal instead of plastic. An all-new stainless-steel exhaust is mounted under the chassis and features a pair of catalyzers.
Selectable ride modes include Street and Sport setting, and the Motorcycle Traction Control can be turned off. A mode memory, new for 2025, allows the user to retain the selected mode when the key is turned off.

Front suspension consists of a 43mm WP Apex open-cartridge fork with adjustable compression and rebound damping. The rear suspension has an offset, direct-mount WP Apex shock that is fully adjustable for preload, rebound and compression damping. Both front and rear have 9 inches of travel. Michelin Power 6 tires are 110/70-17 (front) and 150/60-17 (rear) on wire-spoked wheels.

ByBre radial-mount four-piston caliper and 320mm disc brake is up front front, and single-piston caliper and a 240mm disc is at the rear. Bosch dual-channel ABS is standard and includes a trio of modes including Road, Supermoto, and Supermoto+ options.

The two-piece steel-trellis frame has revised subframe mounts for different rigidity and geometry. The steering head angle is optimized for control and stability on road and off, coming in a more relaxed 26.9 degrees compared.
A new 4.2-inch full-color TFT dash features an anti-glare coating and usesd the KTMconnect app for control of music, turn-by-turn navigation and incoming calls. New bar-mounted switches feature a four-way joystick for navigation and are illuminated for nighttime use. The headlights and taillights are all LED units.

The KTM 390 SMC R has improved service intervals with the first at 621 miles and then every 6200 after that. MSRP is listed at $5499 and the 2025 KTM 390 SMC R will begin arriving in showrooms in early 2025.
