This is a press release from IOMTT…
In a clear statement of intent, FHO Racing BMW Motorrad have announced that Davey Todd will race for the factory-supported team at the 2025 Isle of Man TT Races alongside current team member Peter Hickman.
Todd and Hickman, who won three races between them at TT 2024, will ride the latest version of the BMW M1000R in the RST Superbike TT, Milwaukee Senior TT and the PE and RL360 Superstock TT races.
The duo will also contest the 2025 British Superbike Championship with Todd making the step up from the Superstock Championship, which he won for the second time in 2024.
“I’m absolutely over the moon to be joining the FHO Racing BMW Motorrad team for 2025 and really excited to be continuing with BMW,” Todd said.
“I loved riding the bike this year and to join one of the biggest teams in the paddock is something I’m really looking forward to. Pete’s a good friend of mine so it’s going to be pretty cool to be his team-mate.”
Todd and Hickman will form the ‘dream team’ in road racing in 2025 and together present a formidable lineup for Faye Ho’s team where there’ll be among the clear favorites for race wins at TT 2025, with Hickman having already won seven races since they made their debut together in 2022.
Todd, meanwhile, makes the switch from the Milwaukee BMW by TAS Racing team with BMW instrumental in the new line-up at FHO Racing BMW Motorrad with the 29-year old looking to add to his maiden Mountain Course success this year which saw him win both the RL360 Superstock TT and the Milwaukee Senior TT races.
“Can you say that again please,” smiles Todd. “I still loving hearing those words ‘TT winner’ and it’s cool to be going back as the reigning champion in those races and I’m definitely looking to add some more next year.
“BMW wanted to have Pete and myself in the same team, and we all want to be the dominant force.”
“Like I say, Pete’s a good friend of mine and there can only be positives from being in the same team. We’re similar personalities in that we both do our talking on the racetrack but are very laid back and chilled out away from it.
“Being alongside each other can only make us both faster and stronger as we’ll share each other’s data and help each other out, improving our strengths and limiting our weaknesses. It can only be a benefit to each of us.
“I’ve known everyone in the team for some time now and we all have a good relationship so their knowledge can only help me improve. With more support from BMW for 2025 as well, everything is in place for us to have a successful season.”
Todd became the third fastest rider in TT history this year when he lapped at 135.664mph in the RST Superbike TT, where he finished second to Hickman, before taking the aforementioned victories later in the week.
Having won the Newcomer’s Trophy in 2018, he’s delivered on the promise shown then with a total of five podium finishes taken this year.
His short circuit success in the Superstock series, which he also won in 2022, has been rewarded too with a move to the premier BSB Championship, something Todd has made one of his career goals after an aborted effort in 2023.
“I want to prove that I’m not just a road racer and I feel that I’m ready to make the step up and have a full season in BSB with a competitive package.
“I’ve won two Superstock titles now so can’t do any more in the class and am twice the rider now than what I was when I won it for the first time in 2022.”
“I’m a lot more consistent. I’ve matured a lot as a rider and have a learnt a lot about myself these last few years so everything’s in place. I’m with a competitive team with a competitive package and am super excited about the challenge of a full season in BSB next year.”
Davey Todd will be riding alongside Peter Hickman in FHO colors at the Macau Grand Prix before returning to the Isle of Man in May 2025 to contest the Mountain Course.
