Cycle News Staff | August 28, 2024
Now that both Supercross and Pro Motocross Championships are over, we now know who qualified for the upcoming Monster Energy SuperMotocross World Championship playoffs.
Pretty much all the major players have qualified directly by finishing in the top 20, like top points scorer Chase Sexton, who finished well ahead of runner-up Hunter Lawrence and the rest of the field, including Jett Lawrence, who is expected to compete after recovering from injury.
Those who squeaked in included Kyle Chisholm, who qualified 20th with five points to spare over the 31st qualifier Dean Wilson.
Those who qualified 21st through 30th will compete in a Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) race for the final two positions of the 22-rider field for the SMX races.
In the 250cc class, defending SMX class champion Haiden Deegan leads the way, followed by Levi Kitchen and Tom Vialle. Nate Thrasher qualified 20th, Dilan Schwartz 31st. CN
