Team Repsol Honda’s Toni Bou got back to his winning ways at the TrialGP of Germany, July 6-7. After suffering a day loss at the previous round, Bou, on the Montesa Cota 4RT, won both days in Germany.
On Saturday, Bou was untouchable, dropping 12 points over the two loops. That was well clear of GasGas Factory rider Jamie Busto of Spain, who dropped 19 points. The next-closest rider was Spain’s Jorge Casales of the TRRS Factory Team, but he was another 21 points back.
Bou’s teammate Gabriel Marcelli was fourth and Beta’s Matteo Grattarola was fifth.
Bou’s winning gap was even larger on Sunday. He carded a winning 14-point score followed by Busto with 25. Another nine points back was Marcelli, followed by Grattarola and Casales.
“I am very happy with the win, and with our performance throughout the weekend,” Bou said on Sunday. “It has been almost perfect. During the two laps, we were very consistent and made few mistakes. The points we achieved are very important for the championship, where I have an important cushion of points that gives me peace of mind.”
“I had a great flow today but just made a few too many mistakes on my second lap,” Busto said on Sunday. “Day one was great. I was happy to finish second, and all day, I was super pleased with the feeling on the bike. I’m especially proud of my second lap, where I only made one mistake on one section.”
After four rounds, Bou leads the championship with 157 points, followed by Marcelli with 118 and Busto with 112. CN
