An event was organized in Bologna’s Galleria Cavour for the unveiling of “Centauro,” a work of art based on one of the designs of a limited-edition Ducati Streetfighter V4 Lamborghini Speciale Clienti.
“Centauro” is created by artist Paolo Troilo as a follow-up to “Minotauro”, a painting by the artist on the bodywork of a Lamborghini Huracán EVO. The art merges as an iconic design between the two brands in a combination of dynamism, power and emotion. The world première of “Centauro,” which will remain on display to the public together with “Minotauro” until February 5 in Bologna, inaugurates Ducati’s participation in the 2024 edition of Arte Fiera.
This is a press release from Ducati…
Sunnyvale, CA (February 2, 2024) – Ducati and Automobili Lamborghini together have launched an art display called “Art of Creating Myths” at the Galleria Cavour. The evening in Bologna celebrated the world première of “Centauro”, a work of art created by artist Paolo Troilo for a limited-edition Ducati Streetfighter V4 Lamborghini, commissioned for “Speciale Clienti”, and created as a follow-up to “Minotauro”, a painting by the artist of 2021 on the bodywork of a Lamborghini Huracán EVO.
Paolo Troilo (Taranto, 1972) is a one-of-a-kind Italian artist known for his unique technique of hyper-realistic finger painting. “Centauro” is painted using this technique in the figurative representation of the arms of a man bent in acceleration that emerge on the two sides of the tank, and it is completed with other tools in the abstract geometric decomposition that characterizes the remaining parts of the motorcycle. This work combines myth and reality, embodying a superhuman strength that merges with the rationality enhanced by the shapes and volumes of the Streetfighter V4, thus transmitting power and a boundless sense of confidence in one’s abilities.
The idea of “Art of Creating Myths” was born in September 2022 at the same time as the world première of the Ducati Streetfighter V4 Lamborghini, the second chapter of the collaboration between the two Companies after the Diavel 1260 Lamborghini. The Ducati Streetfighter V4 Lamborghini, a motorcycle capable of combining the values of sportiness, exclusivity, and fascination, is presented in a limited and numbered edition of 630 examples characterized by a brilliant livery in Citrea Green and Dac Orange. But the uniqueness of this project does not end here: in fact, Ducati and Automobili Lamborghini announced that they had thought of an even more exclusive series of 63 units, called Speciale Clienti, which allowed 63 Lamborghini customers to work directly with the Centro Stile Ducati and configure their Ducati Streetfighter V4 Lamborghini with colors, bodywork, and rims exactly like those of their Lamborghini. Among these 63 customers is the owner of “Minotauro,” who therefore asked Ducati, Automobili Lamborghini, and the artist Troilo to give life to “Centauro” work of art.
The “Art of Creating Myths” event, reserved for 200 Ducati and Lamborghini guests, allowed guests to meet the CEOs of both companies: Claudio Domenicali and Stephan Winkelmann. The executives took the opportunity to underline the close collaboration between two Italian brands that have contributed to writing Motor Valley’s history and continue to collaborate on numerous projects. “Centauro” and “Minotauro” are the perfect examples of the beauty that arises from the partnership between two brands recognized worldwide for their iconic design: a unique and unrepeatable project in which the talent of an internationally renowned artist has made it possible to create a strong connection with the world of art in a combination of dynamism, power, and emotions.
The event on Thursday, 1 February, organized in collaboration with Ducati and Automobili Lamborghini, is a part of ART CITY Bologna and represents a part of the participation of the Bologna-based motorcycle manufacturer in the 2024 edition of Arte Fiera. Ducati is, in fact, a partner of the important modern and contemporary art fair in Bologna, supporting “Percorso,” the itinerary that connects some of the galleries through the common theme of drawing, and establishing the “Officina Arte Ducati Award” for the most deserving work of “Percorso.” Furthermore, during the opening period of Arte Fiera (February 2-4), Ducati will display the marble sculpture “Fortitudo Mea in Levitate” in Halls 25 and 26.
“Centauro” and “Minotauro” will remain on display to the public in Galleria Cavour, another luxury excellence in the Bolognese area, until February 5, 2024.
The video showing the work that led to the birth of “Centauro” has been presented on the Ducati YouTube channel. Check it out below:
