Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship’s first Twist The Throttle campaign raises $72,211 for motorized trails in the Lost Sierra. And two winners were announced in their first $5 Bucks a Foot “Twist the Throttle for Trails” fundraising campaign.
The following is a press release from Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship….
TWO Winners!?!?
We had TWO winners in our first-ever $5 Bucks a Foot “Twist the Throttle for Trails” fundraising campaign, which raised a whopping $72,211 for motorized trails in the Lost Sierra. Our first winner, Chris Walters, graciously donated the grand-prize KTM 350 EXC-F bike back to the Stewardship. Chris will be joining us next year for a Mountain Mule experience, while his generosity resulted in our second winner: Nicole Lavash. Nicole, who rides often from Truckee and donated to the campaign to support the trails she spends her weekends exploring, took home the custom Connected Communities KTM 350 EXC-F bike.
“I am appreciative of all the hard work that goes into building a trail and maintaining it,” Lavash said. “I know how hard so many people work and how important it is to have programs and people who are fighting for our trail use. I really appreciate the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship.”
Nicole plans to check out Mount Hough this summer, so if you see her out there be sure to give her a wave (and check out that sweet KTM in person!).
The funds from this campaign go toward our Connected Communities project and the planning of the Lost Sierra Route, a proposed 600-mile, multi-use trail that connects 15 mountain towns throughout the Lost Sierra, with the ultimate goal of creating economic resiliency and prosperity through outdoor recreation. The proposed route would accommodate all users, including motorcycle riders, mountain bikers, equestrians, hikers, runners, hunters, fisherman, and wildlife, as depicted in our short film: A Trail for Everyone.
We are currently developing a Trails Master Plan as part of Phase One of the project, as well as going through the environmental review process for some sections of trail. More details on overall progress and timelines can be found here.
Funds from this campaign will also contribute to our Professional Trail Crew’s ongoing maintenance and enhancement of the Downieville and Quincy motorized trail systems, some of the best legal moto riding in the west.
We want to say a huge thank you to all of our supporters who made this campaign happen, including KTM North America, Motorcycle Performance Center in Roseville, California, Nevada County Woods Riders, Dunlop Motorcycle Tires, No-Toil Industries, Motion Pro Inc., Fasthouse Apparel and Giant Loop.
We’d like to give a special shout-out to our friends and partners at Motorcycle Performance Center in Roseville, California, without whom we never could’ve raised the $72,211 we did in this campaign. MPC graciously extended their time, expertise and network that allowed us to pull off this first-ever moto campaign and we’re so grateful for their partnership. If you’re in the Sacramento area, be sure to stop by and see Brad and his crew at MPC, which is one of the oldest and largest KTM dealers in North America, and also carries KTM’s sister brands Husqvarna and GASGAS motorcycles, which are manufactured by KTM. MPC is family-run and has been around since 1975, so their knowledge is unmatched and they also specialize in hard-to-find parts. You can also check out their parts and service offerings online at mpcktm.com.
