In this week’s Throwback, we go back to March 12, 1983 and that year’s Daytona Supercross. This photo shows the podium with winner Bob Hannah joined by his Honda teammates David Bailey (left) who was third and Johnny O’Mara (right) who took the runner-up spot. Hannah nailed the start and led the entire race in spite of stalling his motor on the third lap of the 12-lap race. “It makes it easier when you get the holeshot,” Hannah said after the race. It marked the second and final Daytona win for Hannah. This Saturday (March 5) Eli Tomac will be shooting for a record sixth victory in the Daytona Supercross to kickoff to 81st Annual Bike Week at Daytona Presented By Monster Energy. A Tomac win would take him out of a tie with Ricky Carmichael, a five-time winner of the historic event.
